VAMPIRES
Perhaps the most well known creatures of the night, Vampires instinctively place themselves above any others. They are naturally inclined to form groups, called Clans, and be fiercely loyal to said Clan. The hierarchy is defined by a mixture of age and bloodlines, with the Clan Master being the oldest amongst them (and most powerful) and with the purest, oldest bloodline. Leadership can only be transferred upon death of the Clan Master and, unless it's death by regicide, transfers to his oldest creation. Impregnation is nearly impossible between two vampires, though there is a much higher chance with mixed-species couples. Children who are birthed from these unions are vampires- aging up until they are 18 (or around that age, as if varies depending on the child's own development). Children up are turned also age until about that year, though any child-vampire is often more mature than the age they appear to be. Though sexual intercourse may occur between Vampires and the humans they feed from, love and more than a passing feeling of affection are often not tolerated.
Clans may be either located all in one area, or spread out all over a country. Many clans have their base camp in a popular city (such as New York City) and this is where the Clan Master resides. In older times, and still in some places, they all reside in the same manor house or castle. Today vampires within the same clan within the same city can often be found on the same block/neighborhood or within the same penthouse building. Makers may reside with certain creations they've made a bond with, but close living is usually reserved for makers and either fledglings or mates. Coffins haven't really been necessary for sun protection in modern times, though some elders prefer them.
Some myths and rumors are true. Blood is vital to a vampire's existence, though it can be consumed after removed from the body (ie. from a bag of blood supplied by a blood bank or hospital). Animal blood does not provide sustenance. Vampires have adverse reactions to garlic, sunlight, holy relics and word, and silver. Garlic, relics, and silver act much like an acid against their skin, while sunlight burns them. Holy words sound like fingernails against a chalkboard. Vampires cannot consume any form of solid food. However any sort of drink, smoothie, or melted/liquefied food may be drunk.
As for powers, many are just myths. Flight and the ability to transform into a bat cannot be done by any vampire.. Super speed, super strength, improved eyesight (along with other improved senses), and a mind-to-mind connections are, however, part of being a vampire. However, a mind-to-mind connection happens only between Mates- two vampires completely compatible sexually, mentally, and physically. They are the ‘soul mates’ to vampires. It is said that a Mate very much becomes your other half and it becomes hard to want to live after a death of a mate. Mates will do anything to protect their partner. Very few marriages happen between vampires unless they are mates. The mind connection allows vampires to speak without words, share memories, and share moods.
Hunting differs from vampire to vampire. Some prefer to keep blood slaves, humans that are kept solely to feed from without killing. Others prefer to go to night clubs, picking up women (or men), and either drinking from multiple bleeders or killing a single one. Some elders, and some higher-up vampires, prefer to only drink from other vampires. Feeding can, but does not have to be, a sexual experience. Vampires should feed around once every other day, though older vampires can go longer without blood and fledglings (newly turned vampires) must feed more frequently.

WEREWOLVES
Werewolves are the second most widely recognized creatures. While vampires prefer city living and whatnot, werewolves prefer small towns amidst nature. Werewolves, like vampires, prefer to stick together in groups called Packs. Hierarchy is determined usually by family lines or, by strength if challenge is issued. Alphas are the leaders, with Betas being their second in command. Alphas inherit from their parents, as do Betas. If the Alpha line is destroyed, the Beta line has the rights to assume the Alpha line before any others.
Werewolves, like their animal brethren, mate for life. Sexual intercourse is considered to be an initial step towards marriage- strict, culture valuing werewolves will only have intercourse with one another person their entire life. Children, or pups, are the most prized thing amongst Weres (and with lines traced through the father, male children are even more so prized). Children don't make their first change until puberty.
They do not 'partially' shift parts of their body; it's an all or nothing reaction- werewolves become wolves. Older, more experienced weres can shift whenever they want. However, all werewolves must shift between the day before the full moon through the day after. Turned werewolves, which happens when a shifted were bites a human, cannot change at will. Because of this, and because of their lack of Pack life as a child, they're usually thought of as second-rate and treated like children. It's hard for a turned werewolf to join into a Pack.
Werewolves are very nature-orientated. They prefer outdoor activities to video games, lakes to pools, and usually nudity to clothing. Their Pack usually fills up the entire town so as not to draw questions. Packs in the same area don’t like to interact.
As for rumors? Silver causes burns if touched, and spreads like an acidic poison if consumed or inserted into the skin. They do not hunt for human flesh, but are hunters when shifted. They are natural enemies of vampires, which is only further influenced by the Vampire's domineering nature of them. They are often recluse when it comes to other species or other packs. Weres who are turned, or ones that are disowned from a pack, may bond together to form another Pack. However, usually they wander alone and search for another Pack to join or die.

THE FAE
The Fae, or Faeries as modern day culture calls them, were once the most powerful force in the world. Able to shift through time, play with the future, and change appearance at will they once controlled the world. However, after the 336 BC, The Fae have lost most of their powers. They may shift between Fae form (ethereal skin tone and hair, wings, abnormally bright eyes) and human form, but it takes years to master that. They've lost all of their other powers, and have spitefully retreated to the woods.
They are tall, proud beings. Children may only happen between a Fae and a Human, and it's considered highly incorrect for the child to be left with the human parent. Fae are traced maternally, with females being the higher power. They pair best with werewolves because of their naturally inclination towards nature, and because of their pasts with other creatures.
They cannot stand Iron, either to touch it or be penetrated by it in some way. Certain herbs make them physically ill.

HUMANS
The liaisons are humans that are aware of other creatures in the world. They may have blood from other species in their line, or they may have scene things they should not have. Some are resistant to being turned. Some have a resistance to magic in general. For the most part they choose to hide from the other worldly creatures for fear of their life. However, there is a growing group of people who are acting as legitimate liaisons between vampires, werewolves, and humans. They are given safety by those they’re associated with. Some hope to be turned one day.
Hunters are a subsection of liaisons. Instead of choosing to sit back and hide or embrace the other world, they aim to seek out and kill any kind of creature they can. Usually how they found out about the Other Species was violent, or knowledge passed down from parents. They use knowledge of the creature's weaknesses to their advantage. Vampires have been known to, along with other species, kidnap and/or kill hunters they find. Many hunters are from families of hunters. In American both the Lambert and the Caddem families are the most well known Hunting families.
Blood Sheep or Slaves are humans who’ve dedicated their lives to keeping vampires alive. They willingly (for the most part) let vampires feed (and often have sex with) themselves. They may be kept, taken care of, and live with their vampire patron. They may be given their own home, paid for by the vampire in power. They may also sell their blood as a ware and meet a vampire in a bar. Some will even drain themselves and sell their life source in bags.
