The year is 2015. The location is New York City. The dominant race is…Vampires.
Vampires have been around as long as humans and they’ve been power thirsty even longer than their tan-skinned brethren. They live on human blood, survive on their essence. They’re empowered by mortal fear, strengthened through power, and turned on by wealth. It was only natural they take control of weaker races.
It started off slowly. Vampires infiltrated trading companies. They blackmailed people in power. They used those people as their personal puppets. They dug their nails into the necks of political and economic leaders. They blackmailed, bribed, and murdered their way to the top of Fortune Five-Hundred corporations. They were the men-and women- behind the figureheads. And then want more.
Vampires are done hiding. They want to be the faces of power, getting the proper reverence they deserve. But just who deserves this power is another matter all together. Vampire Clan Masters are fighting for power, squashing the underbelly that is mortality in their skirmishes. The American Clan wants the power for themselves. The European Clans want certain members of the American Clan back in their birth country’s fold….and bringing the power they’ve gained with them. Each Clan, of course, is self righteous and believes that it is their family of undead that is destined to control humanity.
Werewolves, on the other hand, have a different mindset all together. In New York there are two prominent Packs: the Lykos and the Louve; very much the same, and very much at war with one another. They were enjoying an easy peace when the Alpha Female (daughter of the current Alpha Male) for the Lykos was found pregnant….with the Louve’s Beta Male…and fiancé of the Alpha couple’s daughter. The past three months since the revelation have been a territorial pissing contest.
Werewolves are family and pack oriented creatures. They like to keep together, play together, fight together, and stay together as much as possible. Newcomers are watched carefully, deserters are traitors through and through, and bringing a changed werewolf into the fold is considered polluting the gene pool. They mate for life and the whole family helps raise a pup. While the two lovers want to establish a more accepting future between the two packs, the elders want to further seclude their pack from society.
Another supernatural species determined to stay out of human knowledge are the Fae. Fairy-like creatures to shift between ethereal and human forms. They used to possess all the magic in the world, spinning it to their own will. However, over two millennium ago the Fae were conquered by the vampires and their magic ceased to exist. No one knows how they did it, but rumors have it that the procedure is reversible. As the vampires start to war between themselves, the Fae are hoping that they'll destroy themselves from the inside out.
The humans, when they aren’t being dominated by vampires, are training to keep the power in their hands. They’re the majority, they should have the power. Old families that have passed down Hunting for generations continue to lower the paranormal population, one staked corpse at a time. Occasionally we see one hunter born without their family’s drive for cold-blooded murder; they’re quickly ostracized…or killed. The major Hunter families band together to help save mortals- creating shelters all over the Big Apple for the paranormal abused.
But there are some that believe seeking escape from vampires should be the last thing on their mind. There are women and men who give themselves freely to vampires for use as blood and sex servants. They long to be drained and held captive to these creatures of the night. Other humans attempt to join Werewolf packs, hoping to find familial acceptance where they have not found it in humanity. There are humans who act as liaisons between the races, being spared their lives as payment.
Who knows what else is out there? And who knows what else is trying to take control of the world as we know it?
